Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025

1. Introduction

Memoize (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Memoize Chrome extension and related services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use Memoize.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide: When you save videos or use search, ask, or summarize features, we process the transcripts and metadata (e.g. video title, URL) you choose to add to your library.

Usage data: We may collect anonymised or aggregated usage data (e.g. feature usage, errors) to improve the product. We do not sell this data.

Account data: If you create an account or sign in (e.g. for sync or Pro features), we store the account identifiers and preferences necessary to provide the service.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Memoize extension and services (saving transcripts, search, ask, summarize)
  • Sync your library across devices when you use an account
  • Improve our product, fix issues, and develop new features
  • Comply with applicable law and protect our rights

4. Storage and processing

Your saved transcripts and library data may be stored locally in your browser or, when you use sync or cloud features, on our or our service providers’ servers. We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest. Processing for search, ask, and summarize may involve sending relevant text to our or third-party systems; we do not use your content to train third-party models for purposes unrelated to providing Memoize to you.

5. Third parties

We may use third-party services for hosting, analytics, and AI/search capabilities. Those providers process data according to their own terms and privacy policies. We choose providers that commit to appropriate data handling and do not sell your personal information.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can manage or delete your library and account data from within Memoize or by contacting us. We will respond to valid requests in line with applicable law.

7. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account exists or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account or your library, we remove or anonymise the associated data in line with our retention and backup procedures.

8. Children

Memoize is not intended for users under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have done so, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and, for material changes, we will provide additional notice (e.g. in the extension or by email). Your continued use of Memoize after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact

For questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, contact us at [email protected].
